Picking Crabs

This mural honors the crab-picking workforce so vital to the economy of the Eastern Shore of Maryland since the mid-1,800s.  Each year starting in April, hundreds of pickers begin the tedious work of picking the meat from crabs harvested from the Chesapeake Bay. The fruits of their labor end up on local tables, as well as markets as far away as New York and Canada. Acrylic on canvas.
